Holiday Blizzard

Dubbed the "Holiday Blizzard" by those trying to sugar-coat the 3,000 people stranded at DIA and Denver completely shut down in a "state of emergency". We said screw it, packed up the truck and headed home... and the trek was well worth seeing our family & friends!

Spent Wednesday afternoon at DIA until the airport shut down and then that night at home with Kristi hysterical...

Left Denver at 10:30 AM Thursday. First exit out our garage: snow plowed approx 4' high with a small car jack-knifed into it, luckily second gate was open!

Stopped about 15 miles outside Denver due to road closures, nice Denverite informed us of 5 snow plows on their way, followed their cleared path to Nebraska

76 cars stranded (ironically) on I-76 from Denver to the Nebraska border, luckily we successfully made it out of there! Arrived in the 'burbs at 5 AM Friday.

Vail...again!

Another great weekend of skiing and riding at Vail -

we got in a solid 5 hours this time!

After our great day of skiing we enjoyed an OUTDOOR (it's December...) Counting Crows concert. It was 10* but we had a little liquid warmth running through us :) We got lost on the way there - had to actually go through a snowy field, up a kid's playground, across a drawbridge to another snowy field which then brought us to I-70. For real!
Poor guys - their instruments kept freezing and going out of tune!

Vail is VAIL for a reason!

Our first time skiing at Vail - what an awesome place to ski & ride. Wide open runs and nearly 27 lifts open!
